ABOUT THE INTERVIEWS

This project included interviews with 20 current and former school board members, parent activists, campaign managers, and educational advocates from across the state. The focus was on elections occurring in 2019, 2021, and 2023. School districts included smaller, rural districts, larger suburban districts, and school districts with a mix of small towns and townships. Student enrollment in the districts from which individuals were interviewed ranged from 1,500 to 17,000.
